World powers agree to 'cessation of hostilities' in Syria

Diplomats from more than a dozen countries have met in Munich, Germany, and agreed on a cessation of hostilities in Syria. CNN reports that the cessation, which both the U.S. and Russia agreed to, will begin in a week and that an expansion of humanitarian aid will begin immediately. The agreement is not a legally binding ceasefire, and so it remains to be seen if all the countries that made the agreement will follow through on it. The cessation of conflict does not apply to actions taken against terrorist groups like the Islamic State.
