What We Collect

The Cipher Brief and Social Media
In addition, when you interact with thecipherbrief.com on a social media platform, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn, we may collect the personally identifiable information that you make available to us on that page or account including your social media account ID.  However, we will comply with the privacy policies of the corresponding social media platform and we will only collect and store such personally identifiable information that we are permitted to collect by those social media platforms.

Collecting Your Source IP Address/Location Information
We collect and store your device`s source IP address which may disclose the general location of your device at the time you access the website.  Advertisements and certain content may be directed to you as a result of this data.

The Cipher Brief is published in the United States. We attempt to protect the personally identifiable information of all of our users and we try to comply with local data protection and consumer rights laws to the extent they may apply to us. Our policies are consistent with U.S. laws.

If you`re outside the United States and you submit personally identifiable information, you are consenting to the general use of that information as provided in this privacy policy and to the transfer of that information to, and/or storage of that information in the United States of America.  It`s kind of common sense, but we want to be clear.
