Reformists and modernists appear to have done very well in the Tehran province during Iran’s elections. CNN reports that results are still coming in from other provinces, but the populous Tehran province went almost entirely to the reformists. The election in Iran is being seen as a de facto referendum on the policies of President Hassan Rouhani, and these results seem to imply that the people are siding with reformers over religious hardliners.
