Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said that it will be impossible for a ceasefire to go into effect in Syria within the one week goal set by major world powers several days ago. Reuter’s reports that Assad feels that such a goal is unrealistic, and the fact that it doesn’t apply to terrorist actors in Syria makes it unenforceable. He also said that any political transitions in Syria must be done in accordance with the existing Syrian constitution, not military force.
