Russia and Turkey are exchanging accusations in regards to their actions and intentions in Syria. Reuters reports that Turkey is accusing Russia of trying to starve out the population of Aleppo, while Russia is accusing Turkey of preparing for a military incursion into Syria. Such an action would be very destabilizing, as Turkey is a NATO member, and thus and any conflict it could have with Russia would have far reaching strategic implications. Saudi Arabia has also announced that it would be willing to participate in a U.S.-led ground campaign against ISIS. Presently, the U.S. Secretary of State is planning talks with the Russian government in an attempt at reaching an agreement for a cease-fire in Syria, which is a necessary prerequisite for peace talks to continue.
