U.S. troop reinforcements head for embattled southern Afghan province

Roughly 200 more American troops will be sent to Afghanistan to advise security forces in the Helmand province. Reuters reports that the Helmand province has had significant problems with desertion, corruption, and high casualty rates – and the hope is that the American advisors will help address some of these issues. Some critics are concerned about this decision, as military advisors have been drawn into combat in Afghanistan with increasing frequency.
