
Matin Bek
Former Chief of Staff to the Afghan President
Matin Bek is a fellow at New America's Future Security Program and a former senior Afghan government official. He served as Chief of Staff to the President and was a member of Afghanistan’s Peace Negotiation Team in the Doha talks with the Taliban. He previously led the country’s local governance body and served as Deputy Director of the National Directorate of Security. Bek holds master’s degrees in Security Studies from Georgetown University and in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University.
