Syria Peace Talks Threatened as Regime Launches ‘Unprecedented’ Assault

Bashar Assad’s forces in Syria have mounted a massive assault with the aid of hundreds of bombing raids carried out by Russia – to the detriment of the peace talks in Geneva. According to Time, Russia has conducted 270 bombing raids in the last four days and rebel forces in Aleppo are in danger of being cut off from their supply lines. This has complicated the peace talks in Geneva, as the High Negotiations Committee, which represents the opposition in Syria, has said that they will not cooperate with the talks unless Assad’s forces cease their assaults.
