Lawmakers in the U.S. are heavily scrutinizing Iranian activity, with many hoping to find breaches of the recent deal with Iran or opportunities to apply additional sanctions to the country. The Washington Post reports that at least five different committee meetings are being held in regards to Iran’s behavior, and it is expected that there will be attempts to apply non-nuclear sanctions as well. Iran will be having elections for its parliamentary body on February 26, which experts believe will indicate shifts in political attitudes since the deal with the U.S. was signed. It remains to be seen how the recent efforts of U.S. lawmakers will influence those elections.
