White House Officials Soften Approach at RSA Conference

The debate between Apple and the Department of Justice over encrypted technologies continued this week at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, CA.  Government officials from Attorney General Loretta Lynch to Director of the National Security Agency Admiral Michael Rogers spoke to the confernence and urged innovators in Silicon Valley to partner with government agencies and find ways to work together.  Ms. Lynch told the conference, "“I know that neither our technology companies nor their leaders have any sympathy for terrorists or criminals who target Americans...and the Department of Justice will never sacrifice the safety of the American people or the ideals we all cherish.”  However, Amit Yoran, President of RSA, stated “Contrary to the ‘going dark’ rhetoric, we live in a golden age of surveillance."  For more on Yoran's position on encryption, check out The Cipher Brief's interview with him here.
