South Korea to suspend joint-run Kaesong industrial complex

South Korea has announced that it will cease operations at the Kaesong Industrial Complex, which it operates in conjunction with North Korea, due to the North Korea’s recent rocket launch. According to CNN, more than 120 South Korean companies conduct operations in the Kaesong Industrial Complex and it has provided approximately $515 million in revenue for the North Korean government. However, South Korea believes that North Korea is using that money to fuel its nuclear ambitions. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper also announced that North Korea has reactivated its Yongbyon enrichment facility, which could give it access to enriched plutonium in a matter of months.
