The Colombian military will increase its operations against the ELN following an attack on a military brigade carried out by the rebel group. According to the BBC, Colombia’s president called for the increased operations in order to prevent the ELN from attempting to use guerilla attacks to influence peace negotiations. The Colombian government is currently in peace talks with both the FARC and the ELN, but only the FARC talks are close to reaching an agreement.
