Saudis and Russia agree to oil output freeze, talks with Iran to follow

Oil ministers from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Venezuela met in Doha and made an agreement to freeze oil output at January levels – as long as other producers do the same. According to Reuters, the meeting was held in secret, and the stated goal is to stabilize falling oil prices while still meeting demand. However, Iran was not party to this meeting, and it intends to increase its oil output now that sanctions are being lifted from it. As a result, Iran may complicate any sort of final deal being made.
