Patrick Duddy, a retired Foreign Service Officer, is the director of Duke University’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Before his retirement from the Department of State, he served as the U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Caribbean. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Caribbean Policy Consortium.
