Andrew (Andy) Makridis retired from the Central Intelligence Agency at the end of 2022 after
four years as its Chief Operating Officer—the number three position at CIA–culminating a
thirty-eight year career at the center of many of the national security challenges facing the US.
Andy started his CIA career in the Directorate of Science and Technology. He spent four years
in the Directorate of Operations and over a decade in the Directorate of Intelligence working
and then leading the technical analysis of Russian, Chinese, Iranian, and North Korean
strategic weapons and space capabilities.
