David S. Cohen served as the Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2015 to 2017.
Before becoming Deputy Director, Mr. Cohen served in the Treasury Department as Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (2011-2015) and Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing (2009-2011). In those roles, Mr. Cohen oversaw Treasury’s financial sanctions programs, including the efforts against Iran, Russia and terrorist financing, as well as Treasury’s domestic and international anti-money laundering efforts.
Before joining the Treasury Department, Mr. Cohen practiced law in Washington, DC, for almost twenty years.
Mr. Cohen is a recipient of the CIA Distinguished Intelligence Medal and the Treasury Department’s Alexander Hamilton Award.
