Barry C. Buckland, Ph.D., is executive director of the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Pharmaceuticals and CEO at BiologicB, a consultancy specializing in biotechnology. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1997. Over three decades at Merck Research Laboratories (MRL), Buckland built the bioprocess R&D group, leading the development of all biologically made product candidates within the MRL pipeline and the manufacture of clinical supplies. He is a visiting professor at University College London, where he earned his doctorate in Biochemical Engineering.
