Deputy Under Secretary for Science & Technology, Department of Homeland Security

Dr. Robert Griffin is the Deputy Under Secretary for Science & Technology at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Prior to this appointment, Dr. Griffin served as the Director of the Science and Technology Directorate's First Responders Group, where he led efforts to strengthen the first response community's ability to protect the homeland and respond to disasters. Dr. Griffin came to DHS after a twenty-year career in local government as a senior leader and first responder. He served as the Director of Environmental Services for Arlington County, Virginia, and was appointed the first Director of the Arlington County Office of Emergency Management, in Arlington, Virginia.
