Previously Sanna was a Foreign Service Officer for more than 20 years in the Diplomatic Security Service, managing complex international security programs and law enforcement operations.   His overseas assignments include in-country resident postings as the Diplomatic Security Attaché in Frankfurt, Kuwait, Ankara, Beirut, and Moscow.
